Swepson excited for experience

12th August 2017, 17:39 by Bobbie Jackson

Mitchell Swepson is hoping to gain some experience with Australia but admits he is well down the pecking order.

The 23-year-old has been handed a late call to link up with the Australia squad for their pre-tour camp in Darwin as they prepare to head to Bangladesh.

Australia travel to Mirpur and Chittagong for two Tests on August 27 and September 4 respectively and Swepson could pick up his first cap.

However, with the likes of slow left-armer Ashton Agar and off-spinner Nathan Lyon likely to be the main picks, he admits he is just happy for the experience.

Swepson said: “I was added late, so you’d probably think that the other two blokes are ahead of me at the moment.

“But anything can happen.

“I’ve just got to prepare to play and if it doesn’t happen, then so be it.

“I’ll just take the experience as it comes and I’m looking forward to it.”
