I want Red Bull chance - Sainz Jr
Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz Jr is hoping to get the chance to fight for World Championship glory with Red Bull next season.
Sainz Jr has been steadily improving since joining the team in 2015 and he managed to finish 12th in the Drivers' Championship last year, improving on his debut F1 campaign by three places.
The Spaniard has made further improvements in 2017 and he is currently ninth in the battle for the world title, having recorded top-10 finishes in five of the seven Grands Prix so far.
At just 22 years of age, he is regarded as one of the most talented young drivers in the sport and there is certainly no lack of ambition from the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 Series champion.
Sainz Jr is already eyeing promotion to Red Bull for the 2018 campaign and this would mean taking either the place of Max Verstappen or Daniel Ricciardo, who are sixth and fifth respectively in the individual standings.
"Ideally, I want to fight for a championship [in 2018], I want to have the chance to show everyone that I'm able to fight for a world championship," he told Crash.net. "Red Bull knows this, I've told them, they know it perfectly.
"I think if I keep bringing home good results the opportunity will come, and hopefully it will come with Red Bull, this is my target and this is what I'm looking for."
