Kubica could appear in Abu Dhabi - Lowe

14th November 2017, 13:47 by James Mason

Robert Kubica could race for Williams in the official F1 Pirelli tyre test at Abu Dhabi, team boss Paddy Lowe has revealed.

Kubica is attempting to make a sensational return to Formula One following a horrific rally accident back in 2011 in which he suffered a partially severed right arm and he has been involved in two tests for Williams.

The first came at Silverstone while the second took place at the Hungaroring and there were reports last Saturday claiming the Pole would be handed a third opportunity at Abu Dhabi in the week after the season-closing race at the Yas Marina circuit.

Lowe has now spoken about the 32-year-old, with the team boss confirming there is every possibility the Krakow-born star could be involved in the tyre test at the end of the current campaign.

"We are considering what the best options are for the two days of tyre testing, and he (Kubica) is definitely a strong option," he told the Finnish broadcaster C More."
