Tyrrell Hatton claims he is not too worried about his world ranking position as he just wants to win more tournaments.
The 25-year-old Englishman is currently preparing to defend his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title in October, having claimed his maiden European Tour success in the tournament at St Andrews last year.
Having moved up to 28th in the current world rankings, another good performance between October 5-8 could see him climb even higher before the end of 2017.
However, Hatton is adamant that he is merely concentrating on trying to add more silverware to his trophy cabinet and the ranking position will follow.
The High Wycombe man, who equalled the course-record score of 62 during the third round on St Andrews' Old Course on his way to a four-shot win last year, told the European Tour website: "It’s great to see my name up there in the rankings, but my goal is to keep playing the best I can, keep trying to win tournaments and the world rankings will look after themselves.
"You want to be in the top 50 in the world and play in the biggest tournaments. For me the next step is to try to win more tournaments."
