Heartache owners on weather watch

13th September 2017, 08:25 by Craig Smithson

The owners of Heartache have confirmed that the Queen Mary winner will only feature at Doncaster on Friday if it is dry.

The two-year-old Clive-Cox trained filly has not been in action since losing her unbeaten record in the Prix Robert Papin in July.

The plan was for Heartache to return in the Wainwrights Flying Childers this week, but it all depends on the weather.

Rain this week has left the ground at Doncaster soft, but it is forecast to be dry on Friday and Sam Hoskins, who is part of the Hot To Trot syndicate which owns the horse, revealed that Heartache will be withdrawn if it is raining.

"It is the plan to run her, but the weather is trying its best to prevent us," he said

"If it is good to soft or better she will run, but if it is any softer than that she will go straight to the Cheveley Park.

"They had a lot of rain at Doncaster earlier in the week but I think it is supposed to be predominantly dry from now, and the strong winds will help it dry.

"We're really hoping we can run her."
