Trainer talks up Hawkbill chances

12th August 2017, 14:20 by Gareth Freeman

Charlie Appleby says Hawkbill will "take some beating" in Sunday's Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten.

Hawkbill was last seen when winning the Group 2 Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket and trainer Appleby believes his four-year-old is the one to beat at Hoppegarten.

"I was delighted with Hawkbill at Newmarket and this will probably be his last race before we give him a break ahead of the Canadian International in October," said Appleby, as reported by the Racing Post.

"He's in good shape and if he can repeat his performance in the Princess of Wales’s Stake he'll take some beating."

William Buick will take Hawkbill's reins on Sunday.
