Wilshere in demand as Swans step in

10th November 2017, 12:21 by Aidan Perkins

Swansea City are the latest Premier League club said to be interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Reports claim the Swans have joined the list of clubs interested in the England international, whose long-term future at Arsenal is in doubt as he's in the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

The midfielder is fit again after his latest injury, a calf problem, and is doing his best to force his way into Arsene Wenger's first-team plans.

The 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, has yet to start in the Premier League this season, making two appearances as a sub, but he has started three Europa League games and two in the Carabao Cup.

Wenger may decide to offer him a new deal if he maintains his fitness but if he fails to sort out fresh terms a move away beckons, either in January or the summer, and Swansea are set to be among a host of clubs interested.

West Ham and Crystal Palace have already been heavlily linked with the midfielder, while Bournemouth, Watford and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest.
