Hopkins optimistic of finding new club
Sam Hopkins insists he is confident of finding a new employer after being released by relegated Leigh Centurions.
The 27-year-old, who has been called up to the Wales squad for the World Cup, was told earlier this week that he was surplus to requirements at Leigh Sports Village following their relegation from the Super League.
Hopkins only signed a three-year deal with Leigh in August and he admits he was shocked to hear he would need to find a new club.
However, the prop forward insists he is confident of finding a new club even if it means he will have to re-locate.
Hopkins said: “I am devastated and didn’t see it coming. I haven’t got an agent and I haven’t spoken to any other clubs.
“I am back to square one and I don’t know know what I am going to do.
“I am confident I will get another club but it just depends where.
“I might have to move house, re-locate. It’s all up in the air.
“However, it is what it is. I have got to accept it and move on.”
