Robins see off Centurions
Tim Sheens believes his Hull KR side will grow in confidence following Saturday’s victory over Leigh Centurions in the Qualifiers.
The Humberside outfit massively boosted their chances of winning a place in the Super League after grinding out a 20-16 triumph at the Leigh Sports Village.
Shaun Lunt scored twice either side of Ryan Shaw crossing the line, while a strong defensive performance helped them to claim a second successive win in the Qualifiers.
Sheens admits that there is still plenty of room for improvement but was full of praise for the effort on show from his men.
Sheens told Hull KR’s official website: “It’s another foot in the door. We’re two out of two and one of those was against a Super League side which certainly helps, so it was a great effort by everybody.
“We were patient and we just hung in there. Leigh completed really high and they battered us in the middle but we hung on and that great catch from Ryan Shaw on the touchline really paid off. He’s done a lot of work on that high ball.
“We just persevered and I still had one interchange left at the end of the game, so we backed our fitness and it helped win us the game. There’s still a lot of areas where we can get better and we’ll need to, but the confidence we’ll have from beating a Super League side at this time will be good for us.”
