Wales suffer Cuthbert blow
Wales have confirmed winger Alex Cuthbert will not feature again on their summer tour due to a shoulder injury.
The 27-year-old sustained ligament damage during the first half of Wales’ 24-6 triumph against Tonga on Friday and was subsequently replaced by Cory Allen at the break.
Wales assessed their winger but have now decided it is best for him to fly home to continue his recovery rather than stick around for the rest of the tour.
Cuthbert is expected to be sidelined for around five weeks and interim head coach Robin McBryde admitted it is a huge blow, having already lost many of their star performers to the British & Irish Lions.
McBryde told WalesOnline: "Alex has been in excellent form leading into the tour - and it was there for all to see at Eden Park on Friday - so it's a shame he's had to leave us.
"He's also been a great influence off the field with the younger players in the squad. I know he'll work hard now to be back in action for Cardiff Blues' pre-season."
