No guarantees at Bayern – Rummenigge
Niko Kovac must deliver the goods to stay as Bayern Munich manager, according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Kovac is in his first season as Bayern coach and has guided his side to the top of the Bundesliga standings following Saturdays' 5-0 thrashing of rivals Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.
The result means that the Bavarians sit one point clear of BVB with six top-flight games to go while they face Werder Bremen in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal.
The one blot on Kovac's copybook was a 3-1 aggregate loss to Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals and Rummenigge, while not mentioning that result by name, stressed the importance of success to any Bayern boss's future.
"There is no job guarantee for anyone at FC Bayern Munich," he said. "You always have to deliver at FC Bayern Munich.
"That's how FC Bayern Munich function and you must cope with this pressure. If you can't do it, you are at the wrong club."
