Hummels says Sancho could play for anyone

19th September 2019, 13:12 by Dan McCarthy

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels says Jadon Sancho could play for any team in the world after his recent performances.

The England winger has been in sensational form for club and country and was heavily linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion during the summer.

Manchester United were keen on a move and are still reportedly in the hunt for him, though may have to pay around  £100million to get his signature.

The 19-year-old has scored twice in four Bundesliga appearances so far this term and scored 12 in 34 last season.

He bagged his first two goals for England in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo at St Mary’s last week.

Now, Hummels, who returned to Dortmund in the summer following a three year stint at Bayern Munich, says Sancho is good enough to play for anyone in the world.

“I could imagine him in just about any team in the world,” Hummels told German publication Sport Bild. “Although he’s not mature yet, Jadon is already an outstanding footballer. His one-on-one, the pace. He loves to prepare goals.

“He is an absolute weapon that even has potential for improvement.”

Sancho made the move to Dortmund from Manchester City when he was just 17 and did not take long to establish himself as a first choice player.

He played 12 times in his debut campaign but last year was his real breakthrough and he is now being tipped for potential superstardom.

He is next set to play on Sunday when Dortmund travel to Eintracht Frankfurt, who are playing Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday.
