Bartels resumes Werder training
Werder Bremen forward Fin Bartels has finally returned to training after over a year out with injury.
The 31-year-old has been on the sidelines for 13 months but is back working with his team-mates at Werder's winter training camp in South Africa.
Bartels has been slowly recovering from rupturing his Achilles tendon at the end of 2017 but appears to be closing in on a return to first-team contention.
"It's good that I’m fighting my way back," he said on the club's website from the training camp in Johannesburg.
"Of course I've got to adjust to the situation and the surface, because you need a bit longer when you've been injured.
Bartels is yet to resume full training and it appears he will have to wait a bit longer yet before he can play competitively again but he's staying upbeat.
He added: "It's a massive difference. You're always close, but never really there, but it's given me the appetite for more."
