Grealish destined for the big time - Ashton

30th March 2019, 14:49 by James Mason

Ex-West Ham United striker Dean Ashton says Aston Villa's Jack Grealish is deserving of a move to the Premier League.

Former England Under-21 international Grealish has been a standout performer for Villa this season and his impressive performances have helped the club climb into the Championship play-off positions.

The 23-year-old has been handed the captain's armband and he was praised for the way he handled himself in the 1-0 derby victory over Birmingham at the start of the month, having been attacked by a pitch invader in the first half.

Several clubs are believed to be weighing up a summer move for the attacking midfielder and Ashton, who was capped once for England, believes every team in the Premier League should be looking to sign Grealish.

"I think that every single club in the Premier League – and I mean even the best teams – in my opinion, should be looking at Jack Grealish," he told the Express. "He can be that good.

"He's got that kind of Ross Barkley style about him, being able to ghost past players, finishing ability as well. But I think he's a bit better than Ross Barkley."
