Rovers duo to sit out weekend clash

30th August 2019, 13:49 by James Mason

Tony Mowbray has confirmed Ben Brereton and Tosin Adarabioyo will miss Blackburn's trip to West Brom on Saturday.

England Under-20 international Brereton joined Rovers permanently from Nottingham Forest in January after impressing during his loan spell in the first half of the campaign but has been limited to just one appearance this season.

The 20-year-old striker limped out of training two weeks ago with a knee injury and he may have to undergo a minor operation over the upcoming international break to resolve the issue.

Summer signing Adarabioyo, who arrived from Manchester City on a season-long loan, has also only managed one appearance this season and will be absent for the trip to The Hawthorns.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph ahead of the West Brom game, Mowbray said: “Both Ben [Brereton] and Tosin [Adarabioyo] won’t be ready for this weekend. The talk with Ben is that he might be having a slight procedure on his knee, some keyhole treatment, which may take four to six weeks.

“Tosin may be fine to train fully next week and look to build up his fitness ahead of the Milwall game [on September 14th].”
