Field loving life at Charlton
Midfielder Sam Field says the Charlton squad are enjoying life in the Championship and are ready for all challenges in the coming months.
The Addicks went into the international break on a four-match unbeaten run thanks to Saturday’s 2-0 win over Reading.
Lee Bowyer’s men picked up draws against Barnsley and Nottingham Forest before beating Brentford, and they are now second in the Championship table.
Just two points separate them and league-leaders Swansea City, but Field says a relaxed approach under boss Lee Bowyer has worked wonders so far this season.
He told the club’s official website: “I think we just want to go and enjoy ourselves. The pressure’s off. The media might not think that much of us, but we just want to go and show what we’re capable of. That’s what the manager wants as well. He knows that we’re good players.
“We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves but to have 14 points by this time is a great step.”
He added: “We train really well, running hard in training and whatnot. I think it’s just that, going out and expressing ourselves. We only showed 60-70 per cent of what we can do.
“Everyone enjoys it when you’re playing well, getting on the ball and moving it. Just keep our heads to the ground, keep working hard and keep seeing what we can do.”
