Tigers line up Szmodics bid
Colchester United attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics has reportedly emerged as a summer target for Hull City.
Szmodics has been in impressive form for Colchester this season, scoring 12 goals and registering seven assists to date, and his performances have helped the club challenge for a play-off position.
The 23-year-old, who made his senior debut back in 2013, is regarded as one of the most promising talents in the Football League and The U's are bracing themselves for a number of summer offers.
Championship outfit Hull, who are still in contention for a top-six finish this season, are eager to acquire the Englishman's services and the East Yorkshire side may be able to snap him up for a bid around £250,000.
However, the Tigers are set to face stiff competition from Bristol City and Derby County, while it is also thought Premier League Bournemouth are showing a keen interest in Szmodics.
James Mason grew up in Northumberland so is entrenched in both the football and golf scenes. A low handicap golfer, he also follows Newcastle United and predicts big things under Rafa Benitez.
