Bamford ready to link up with Nketiah
Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford says he and Eddie Nketiah could both play in the same starting XI this season.
The former Middlesbrough ace has started Leeds’ first six Championship games, and he has rewarded boss Marcelo Bielsa with four goals.
Nketiah has scored one goal in his three appearances off the bench, and the on-loan Arsenal man is determined to prove his worth at Elland Road this season.
Bielsa has played just one striker since he took over at Leeds, but Bamford believes he and Nketiah could work as a pair going forward.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Before he came here I think he has played across the whole front three so he’s not just a striker.
“He can play no.7 or no.11, and you saw last year only briefly, but me and Roofey sometimes played together – I know it was hard with both of us being injured, but we played as a 9 and a 10 so you never know.
“I think it has its positives and in certain systems having two strikers works but we just believe in what the gaffer wants and what the gaffer wants we will do.
“We believe in everything he does.”
