Trio chase Middlesbrough striker

14th July 2019, 04:54 by Michael Holland

Britt Assombalonga is in demand this summer with Celtic among the clubs said to be chasing the Middlesbrough striker.

The 26-year-old has scored goals wherever he has been throughout his career when firing home 115 goals during spell with Boro, Nottingham Forest, Peterborough and Southend.

The striker fired home 14 goals during a tough season for the club and his performances have caught the eye of rival clubs, who are starting to form an orderly queue.

Scottish champions Celtic are said to be keen to take him north of the border but there is also interest from Championship rivals Cardiff City and Bristol City.

Boro will have no intention of cashing in, but that will not stop Celtic and co from testing their resolve over the coming weeks before the transfer window closes next month.
