Cambridge sign Adam Phillips on loan from Norwich

13th January 2018, 15:01

Cambridge have signed teenage midfielder Adam Phillips on loan from Norwich.

The 19-year-old will spend the remainder of the season at the Abbey Stadium, although he will have to wait for his U's debut with Shaun Derry's team not in action again until January 13.

Phillips put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Norwich last summer following a successful trial from Liverpool, where he had spent a decade in the Premier League club's academy. He has since been named captain of the Canaries' under-23s side.

"Adam is a player that arrives with a fantastic reputation and one that we have kept a close eye on for a couple of years now," Cambridge boss Derry told the club's official website.

"With the second half of the season still to play, we highlighted the need for more options and quality on the ball in midfield areas. We wish Adam the very best of luck during his time here with Cambridge United."
