Gomes hails Reading's capture of Miazga
Reading boss Jose Gomes says he's happy to have been able to sign "commanding" Chelsea defender Matt Miazga on loan until the summer.
The 23-year-old United States international has become the Championship club's fifth January loan recruit and Gomes is enthused by his side's latest capture.
"Matt is a skilful, committed and commanding presence at the centre of defence and I am very pleased we have been able to welcome him into our family," Gomes told the club's website.
"I am now looking forward to working with him on the training pitch for the first time."
New Jersey-born Miazga started his career at New York Red Bulls, making his senior debut as an 18-year-old.
The 11-cap defender has since enjoyed loan stints with Vitesse Arnhem and Nantes, while also making two senior appearances at Chelsea.
Reading chief executive Nigel Howe said: "Having already sourced extra quality in the form of a striker, two midfielders and a goalkeeper this month, I'm delighted that Matt now arrives to bolster our defensive ranks for the final 18 games of the season.
"Committed to our cause, I am confident he will be a real asset to the first-team dressing room for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign."
