Gomes talks up striker arrival

24th January 2019, 07:52 by Alex Jack

Reading's Jose Gomes feels striker Nelson Oliveira has the "killer instinct" his side need as they look to avoid the drop this term.

The Portugal international found himself to be surplus to requirements at Norwich City and will now spend the remainder of the Championship season at the Madejski Stadium.

Having gone from a title race to a relegation scrap, Gomes feels Oliveira has the attributes the Royals need to make sure they maintain their Championship status this term.

"Nelson is a striker who certainly possesses that vital killer instinct," he said."He is strong, powerful and technically good with the ball at his feet."

Oliveira will be looking to get his first run out on Tuesday when Reading make the trip to fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers in a crucial game for both sides.
