Reading

Royals star to miss rest of season

17th April 2019, 16:32 by Bobbie Jackson

John Swift has undergone surgery on a hip injury and won’t feature again for struggling Reading this season.

The midfielder sustained a hip injury during Reading's 2-1 triumph over Preston on March 30 and has missed the following three engagements.

Swift has since undergone surgery to correct the issue and won't be able to recover before their final game against Birmingham on May 5.

His absence comes as a huge blow for Royals boss Jose Gomes as the Portuguese looks to steer them clear of relegation.

Reading currently sit 19th, four points clear of the drop zone with four games still left to play.
