Owls not ready to 'throw in the towel' - Lees

9th April 2019, 14:39 by Bobbie Jackson

Tom Lees isn’t ready to "throw in the towel" just yet and feels Sheffield Wednesday can make a late charge for the play-offs.

The Owls have certainly improved since Steve Bruce's arrival, losing just once in 12 games, and they still have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.

They sit 12th – six points shy of sixth – with six games left to play after Saturday's disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa.

Lees accepts that it will take something special to secure a spot in the top six but insists they will continue to fight until it is mathematically impossible.

"You never know - I'm not sitting here throwing in the towel but realistically it's going to be a big ask. Teams have got six games left and games in hand so it's a big ask but you've just got to keep going really," Lees said.
