Hogan senses Stoke confidence boost
Scott Hogan says Stoke's shock win over Swansea was the perfect confidence-booster after a dismal start to the season.
Hogan was the Potters’ matchwinner on Saturday as he struck a late winner to see off the Welsh outfit, who had gone into the weekend as the leaders in the Championship.
In contrast, Nathan Jones’ side were rock-bottom of the table and had yet to pick up a victory but all that changed at the Liberty Stadium and Hogan knows just how important a win it could be in terms of turning the campaign around.
Hogan says they must build on the much-needed three points and prove they have what it takes to get moving up the table.
“We need to regroup, come back down to Earth and remember that we’re expected to pick up more points than we have at the moment.”
Stoke face Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall in their next three games when the club action resumes after the current international break and but Hogan insists there is a real belief in the squad that they can mix it with any side in the division.
He added: “We have a tough run of fixtures coming but I believe we can beat anybody.”
Despite the win, the Potters are still bottom of the Championship, a point adrift of Barnsley directly above them.
