Striker keen to remain at Molineux

16th April 2018, 15:41 by Simon Barlow

Benik Afobe has told members of the Wolves squad he wants to stay on at Molineux after helping them return to the Premier League.

Afobe scored the goal that sealed Wolves' promotion party as Wolves beat Birmingham City 2-0 on Sunday.

The on-loan Bournemouth striker has scored five goals in 14 appearances since returning to the club on loan in January.

That temporary switch, completed just before the transfer deadline, included an option for Wolves to make the deal permanent.

And the 25-year-old has let his teammates know that he wants to stay for the club's Premier League adventure rather than returning to the south coast at the end of the season.

Wolves defender Matt Doherty, a close friend of Afobe, said: "He would love to come permanently next summer."
