Afghan international agrees Middlesex switch

11th February 2019, 14:51 by Bobbie Jackson

Middlesex have confirmed the signing of Afghanistan international Mujeeb ur Rahman for this season's Vitality Blast campaign.

Mujeeb shot to prominence as a 16-year-old when he made his debut for Afghanistan in the one day international series with Ireland in December 2017.

The 17-year-old has since established himself as a key figure for the national side and boasts 31 appearances, having taken 54 wickets across all formats.

He further enhanced his reputation with Brisbane Heat in this year's Big Bash, claiming 12 wickets, and Middlesex have moved to bring him in for the summer's showpiece.

Head coach Stuart Law told the club's official website: "It is with great pleasure to say that Mujeeb has agreed to play for Middlesex in the Vitality Blast.

"His unique style of spin has proven to be difficult to play against and his record is outstanding in this format.

"I’m sure the staff and players at Middlesex are looking forward to working with him this season."
