Archer shines in Royals defeat
Jofra Archer took 3-15 for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League as he waits to hear if he will make England's World Cup squad.
Despite the impressive performance from the Barbados-born pace bowler, it was not enough to stop Kings XI Punjab from wrapping up a 12-run victory.
Eyes now turn to whether the uncapped Archer will make England's provisional 15-man squad that is set to be named later on today.
Archer, whose father is English, has a UK passport and qualified for England earlier this year after the governing body changed its residency rules, but fellow all-rounder Chris Woakes does not think it would be fair if he made it.
"If he was to come in and someone was to miss out, it would be extremely unfortunate," Woakes told BBC Sport.
When asked if it was fair that Archer could replace someone who has been part of the squad for three years, Woakes added: "Fair probably is not the right word. It probably wouldn't be fair, morally, but at the same time it's the nature of international sport."
