Aussies will win World Cup - Warne
Australia legend Shane Warne feels returning duo Steve Smith and David Warner will help the Aussies win the World Cup.
The pair received year-long sanctions from international and domestic first-class cricket in Australia for their part in the infamous ball-tampering scandal that rocked the Baggy Greens' series in South Africa last year.
They have been keeping their eye in with various franchises around the world but will soon be eligible to return to international colours with the men from Down Under.
Australia are the defending champions and have lifted the 50-over trophy on five occasions, but they are only third favourites behind hosts England and Asian giants India to do so in 2019.
However, Warne, who took 293 ODI wickets in his career, does not see it that way and feels the returning stars will make a massive difference.
"Sometimes, having an enforced lay-off – like I’m used to, I had 12 months off myself – what that means is you become really fresh," he told Fox Cricket. "You freshen your mind up, you become hungry again, and realise how important cricket is to you.
"Have a look at their records. Absolute class, as good as anybody in the world those two players. They’ll walk straight back in, they’ll be hungry.
"They’ll be a bit nervous in the first few games, but that’ll be good for them. They’ll be excited and I would expect them to play as good as they always have. That’s why I reckon Australia can win the World Cup."
