D'Arcy hoping not to fall short in Durham

8th March 2019, 18:03 by James Mason

D'Arcy Short is hoping he can reward Durham's faith and impress for the club after joining them for the Vitality Blast season.

Australian Short has a reputation for being an explosive batsman in limited-overs cricket and he has scored 11,471 runs from 204 ODI's, averaging an impressive 57.66 with the bat.

The 28-year-old can also chip in with the ball and he has taken 97 wickets in the 50-over format, whilst he has taken 103 scalps from 120 Twenty-20 internationals for the Baggy Green Men.

Short, who joins fellow countryman Cameron Bancroft at Durham, says he is eager to get going and is hoping he can produce the goods for the northern outfit, with the first Vitality Blast game against the Northants Steelbacks in July.

"I can't wait to get over to Durham and play some cricket; playing in England is something that I have wanted to do for a while and I'm very excited to get started," he told the club's official website. "It's very much a new experience for me and a challenge to play on some different grounds, wickets, pitches and against some new bowlers."
