Finch to be ready for India
Australia opener Aaron Finch has declared himself fit for the Boxing Day Test against India.
The 32-year-old suffered a painful blow to his finger in the second Test in Perth and it was the same digit he had broken previously.
Inevitably there were doubts over his participation in the third Test but with it to be played at his home ground, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Finch says there was no way he was missing out.
"It was a bit of a shock. Just the initial pain was the thing that got me," he said. "Being hit a few times in the last month (made it worse), a couple of times by Starcy (Mitchell Starc) at training then obviously Shami.
"With a Boxing Day Test, being from Victoria (state), it's going to have to be cut off (not to play)."
Finch could open with a different opening partner on Boxing Day, with Peter Handscomb's place in jeopardy and Mitchell Marsh pushing to be his replacement.
The two nations are tied at 1-1 with India also having fitness doubts, with Ravichandran Ashwin set to be assessed after missing out in Perth with an abdominal strain.
Jack Ogalbe has been working for the team since his student days, having enjoyed a successful placement. He is an avid West Ham fan but also enjoys writing on rugby union, golf, tennis and cycling.
