Lancashire earn promotion to Division One
Lancashire have earned promotion back to County Championship Division One courtesy of an emphatic win against Derbyshire.
The Red Rose knew victory would hand them promotion but always had the safety net of two further games to play this season.
But they can head into those final two matches - against Middlesex and Leicestershire - safe in the knowledge they will be playing at the highest level in 2020.
Some difficult weather threatened to affect Lancashire's chances but they managed to dig in to see the job through on home soil at Old Trafford.
Lancashire, who started the day on 269-2, were bowled out for 418 in their first innings courtesy of some fine batting from Josh Bohannon, who made 174.
Tom Bailey claimed three early wickets to put Lancashire in a commanding position, while Matt Parkinson (3-28) and Glenn Maxwell (3-39) were also key in seeing off the visitors.
Derbyshire eventually fell for 129 to hand Lancashire victory by an innings and 45 runs.
