MS Dhoni gets match fee halved
MS Dhoni has been fined half his match fee after he stormed onto the pitch to contest an umpire call in the IPL.
In the latest controversy in this season's IPL, Dhoni has been widely criticised for his actions after Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals in a last-ball thriller.
Tempers flared after the fourth ball of the final over when England all-rounder Ben Stokes sent down a full toss to new batsman Mitchell Santner.
Indian umpire Ulhas Gandhe signalled a no-ball for height, only for his square-leg colleague Bruce Oxenford to overrule and Dhoni, who had been bowled by Stokes on the previous delivery, ran out of the dugout to argue with the officials.
Santner had the last laugh smashing the final Stokes delivery for six to win the match but opposition batsman Jos Buttler thinks Dhoni was out of line.
"I am not sure if that's the right thing to do," Buttler said.
"Obviously tensions are running high in the IPL and every run counts. It was a big moment in the game but whether stepping onto the pitch is quite right, probably not."
