Ripley hails signing of Hampshire all-rounder
Hampshire all-rounder Gareth Berg is a "good egg" and can offer a lot to Northamptonshire, according to head coach David Ripley.
The 38-year-old has agreed to join Northamptonshire on-loan for the remainder of the season ahead of beginning a two-year deal from October 1.
Berg is vastly experienced in English county cricket and returns to Northamptonshire after enjoying a spell at the County Ground in 2004.
He went on to represent Middlesex between 2007 and 2014 before moving to Hampshire in 2015.
Ripley believes the South Africa-born all-rounder still has a lot of qualities to offer and is excited to have him around the squad for the next couple of seasons.
"Gareth brings all-round appeal really, he's obviously not the most youthful anymore but he's still incredibly fit and he's got great pride in his work. He's been a real contributor this year for Hampshire, he played all their 50 over games and helped take them to Lords' and he's been around the Championship side too," Ripley told the club's official website.
"He's a good egg and we're really delighted to have him."
