Roberts refusing to rule out Warner

27th December 2018, 09:27 by Tom Hill

Cricket Australia chief Kevin Roberts insists David Warner could still return to the Australia team despite recent comments.

Former vice-captain Warner is still serving a ban for his part in the ball-tampering scandal that hit Aussie cricket last year.

Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were all involved and the latter has blamed Warner for the incident in a TV interview which aired this week.

The trio have not played since the game in South Africa but Roberts insists there is still a future for Warner once his ban is finished.

"I don't know if it does [make it harder for Warner]," Roberts told SEN sports radio in Melbourne.

"Our focus is to work with Dave, who I spoke to about three days ago, on his integration plan when he is eligible for selection again.

"Our focus is on how we proactively look forward and work with the players, rather than be concerned with what has happened in the past."
