South Africa add Mulder to squad
Wiaan Mulder has been called into the South African Test squad for the upcoming series with Sri Lanka after recovering from injury.
The batting all-rounder has been included for the opening two Tests, the first of which starts on Wednesday in Durban, after shaking off an ankle injury picked up against Zimbabwe last December.
The 20-year-old was added to the 13-man squad which beat Pakistan in all three Tests in a home series earlier this season.
"Wiaan has been part of our strategic thinking in developing a batting all-rounder for the Test squad for some time," said selection convener Linda Zondi when announcing the squad on Thursday.
Mulder suffered an ankle injury during a one-day international against Zimbabwe last September, making a successful return to first-class cricket for the Lions franchise last month.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who is recovering from a knee injury sustained during a limited-overs tour of Australia in November, has been left out of the squad.
