Starc receives Kohli backing
Australian paceman Mitchell Starc has been backed by India skipper Virat Kohli who says he does not understand the criticism he gets.
Starc finished the current series against India with the worst figures of any of the Australian pace attack, with the left-armer taking just 13 wickets at 34.53.
He was wayward in the final Test at Sydney and also produced the most overs ever by an Australian (26) in a Test match without a maiden.
Starc has come in for criticism from former Aussie bowlers Shane Warne and Mitchell Johnson but triumphant Indian skipper Kohli, who was previously his skipper at (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, has backed him.
"He is a very skilful bowler, he has got the right mindset," said Kohli. "I am a little surprised with the magnitude of the criticism that has come to him.
"If he is your best bowler, you give him space to work things out and not mount more pressure on him, because you don’t want to lose a guy like that who is so skilled and wins games."
