Streak ready for Somerset stint
Heath Streak is eager to get started after being confirmed as a bowling consultant for Somerset on a short-term basis.
Streak, who is the only Zimbabwean bowler to have taken over 100 Test wickets and one of only four players from his country to have taken over 100 ODI wickets, will join the county on their pre-season trip to Abu Dhabi.
The 44-year-old, who is the bowling coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, is eager to try and pass on his wisdom to the players.
"I'm excited to work with such an exciting group of bowlers during the pre-season campaign," he said. "Somerset has a rich history and I hope to impart some of what I've learnt as both a player and coach on to these men so that the club continues to grow in success."
Somerset director Andy Hurry also spoke about the addition of Streak, saying: "Heath has a vast amount of playing and coaching experience at both international and domestic levels, including with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL."
The County Championship side also confirmed Stuart Barnes, the former England Young Lions, Surrey and Bangladesh bowling coach, will join the squad. He will coach the bowlers during their upcoming Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.
James Mason grew up in Northumberland so is entrenched in both the football and golf scenes. A low handicap golfer, he also follows Newcastle United and predicts big things under Rafa Benitez.
