Woakes demands England response

13th January 2018, 15:01 by Gareth Freeman

Chris Woakes says England are must restore some "pride" in the two remaining Ashes series Tests.

The tourists have already slumped to a series defeat as they trail Australia 3-0 ahead of the fourth Test in Melbourne.

England lost the previous Ashes series Down Under 5-0 and Woakes is eager to avoid a repeat.

"We can learn from Australia and how they have taken (the chance) and made sure they did not let their foot off the throat," the all-rounder said, as reported by Sky Sports.

"We need to make sure we do that [going forward] and take those chances. Hopefully, show some pride - I know we are 3-0 down but we obviously want to come away from this series 3-2.

"We know we are going to have to play better cricket but that is our plan if we can and put in some strong performances."
