Swiss switch on cards for Mahi

11th February 2019, 11:08 by Craig Smithson

Groningen's Mimoun Mahi is reportedly set to leave the club to for a move to Switzerland after missing the 2-1 win against Vitesse.

The 24-year-old has made 126 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit, scoring 36 times and adding 19 assists, since joining from Sparta Rotterdam in 2014.

However, with Mahi's current contract set to expire in the summer and no new deal on the table, he is poised to move on to an unnamed Swiss club, believed to be FC Zurich, this week.

The options for Mahi are limited given that Switzerland is one of a few countries where their transfer window remains open and, as Groningen are looking to avoid loing the player on a free transfer in the summer, they are willing to offload now.

Reports claim he could complete the switch at some point on Monday.
