Bottas eager for Hamilton deal

13th February 2018, 14:13 by Alex Jack

Valtteri Bottas says he would like to see Lewis Hamilton sign a new contract at Mercedes as the pair have "clicked" in the F1 team.

Both drivers will find themselves out of contract at the end of the 2018 season but reports have suggested a new deal is close for Hamilton to extend his successful stay with the Silver Arrows.

Bottas, who had his first season with Mercedes last term, has another year to prove himself to the team in the hope of earning fresh terms.

Mercedes have had issues with drivers not getting along in the past, with Hamilton and Nico Rosberg being a prime example as both drivers went for world titles.

However, Bottas feels he has a good relationship with the Englishman and hopes the pair of them will continue with Mercedes for a number of seasons to come.

He was quoted by Fox Sports, saying: "For me it's good for Lewis to continue. I clicked well with him and he's a quick driver and a challenge."
