Hamilton thinking of Schumacher mark - Wolff
Toto Wolff insists Mercedes Lewis Hamilton will be thinking about Michael Schumacher's seven F1 titles but is focused on the present.
Schumacher's record is the holy grail for any ambitious Formula 1 star but few even have a chance to match the German's feat.
Sebastian Vettel has four titles to his name but Hamilton's five means he is the most likely to challenge the summit.
The British flyer has repeatedly played down matching and passing the legend. However, Wolff admits it will be in his thoughts.
"Provided he stays motivated and energised, he has another four, five years in him," he told the Telegraph. "The Schumacher record, the seven titles, is certainly in the back of his mind. The reason he's not saying it is because there's a sixth in between."
Wolff believes the way Hamilton has developed as a person makes it a realistic possibility he might be able to end his career at the top of the tree.
"He is very good now in his self-assessment – and his self-improvement, every year," added the Austrian. "He has been growing each year, with fewer emotional swings. He is more stable now and very well integrated in the team.
"Overall, I have been most impressed by his personality development. It's one of his strongest assets when I look around at the other drivers."
