McLaren prepared to wait for Norris
McLaren CEO Zak Brown insists Lando Norris will be given time to adapt to Formula 1 in his debut season.
Norris has been given the nod to partner Carlos Sainz at the Woking-based marque after impressing in last season's Formula 2 championship.
The 19-year-old finished second and has been rewarded with a seat at McLaren, replacing Stoffel Vandoorne who has made the switch to Formula E.
Fernando Alonso and Vandoorne struggled at McLaren last year and it will be an all-new driver line-up for 2019, but Brown is not expecting the younger of his two drivers to pull up any trees just yet.
"Formula 1 can be a pretty cruel environment," he told The Sun. "We need to manage expectations, not after three races, and pass judgment, which we as a sport are pretty quick to do.
"He will definitely be given time to develop. It is a high-pressure environment and the first thing anyone does in Formula 1 is compare you to your team-mate."
