Norris confident but realistic on McLaren improvements

Lando Norris is confident McLaren can improve further in the coming season after a positive 2019 campaign.

Norris came in 11th in the drivers' standings last season with 49 points and McLaren finished fourth in the Constructors' Championship with 145 points. In the previous season, McLaren came in sixth and picked up just 62 points.

Norris isn't anticipating such a dramatic leap forward again in 2020 but he is optimistic the team can continue on their upward trajectory.

"I'm confident," he said at the Autosport International show. "The guys have done such a good job over the winter to improve the car as much as possible.

"I'm not going to say we're going to be winning races this season; I would love to but I'm not going to over-hype anything.

"We've got to be realistic. We want to be saying we're going to take a step forward and I think we can be confident in that – but how big of a step is unknown compared to the other teams."
