Racing Point deal close for Perez
Racing Point driver Sergio Perez is confident he can agree a new deal to stay with the team beyond the 2019 season.
The Mexican has had a disappointing campaign so far and is currently behind his less experienced team mate Lance Stroll in the championship table.
He has only finished in the points three times, the last of which came in Azerbaijan in the fourth race of the season, and is currently on the worst points scoring run of his F1 career.
Despite those troubles, the 29-year-old former McLaren driver, says he is close to agreeing a deal which would extend his stay at the team to the end of the 2020 season.
"I'm happy with where things are falling," he told Sky F1's Rachel Brookes.
"I have been a very long time in the team, now with the new administration, I see a great future together and I would like to continue here.
"[If] we are able to get a deal done and get everything in place, it's definitely a great opportunity for both of us to continue.
"The team would like to keep me, I would like to stay, so I hope that it's just a matter of days or so before we can get into a [conclusion]."
