Viera explains lure of China
Las Palmas forward Jonathan Viera has confirmed he will join Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan in the summer.
The 28-year-old has admitted the lure of a move to China was just too good to turn down and he says the amount of money he can earn over there played a part in his decision, amid reports he could earn as much as 6m euros per year following the switch.
"I will give everything for the team, but I have told president (Miguel Angel Ramirez) that this is a unique opportunity, for me and for my family’s future," Viera has been quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
"I have outlined to him how I have been losing money for many years because I have decided to stay here before.
"My heart is frozen – I can see the situation of the team, how important I am to the Coach and to the president, but I am clear I would accept the offer."
Las Palmas is Viera's hometown club and he's struck 44 goals in 176 appearances for them in all competitions across two separate spells.
