Ghoulam focused on recovery

13th February 2018, 15:42 by Aidan Perkins

Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam has vowed to do everything to be fit again "as soon as possible" from his latest injury setback.

The Algeria international had been recovering well from a serious knee ligament injury but he's now broken his knee-cap and faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

It's unlikely the defender will play again this season and will play no part as Napoli look to win their first Scudetto since 1990. They currently lead Juventus by a point at the top of Serie A and, while Ghoulam is disappointed to be watching on, he remains with his team-mates in spirit as they chase glory.

He said: "I’m calm because I have extraordinary team-mates behind me who support me, and that gives me the strength to return as soon as possible.

"We’re believers and we need to move forward and be patient. I need to work to try and heal as soon as possible."
