Alfred Dunhill hat-trick in Harrington's sights
Padraig Harrington is aiming to be the first player to win three Alfred Dunhill Links Championship titles at St Andrews next month.
The 47-year-old Irishman, who won two Open Championship titles and the US PGA Championship over a decade ago, previously won the Alfred Dunhill back in 2002 and 2006 respectively.
However, as no player has won the tournament on three occasions, Harrington will look to break the mould when the European Tour event returns to St Andrews from September 26-29.
The European 2020 Ryder Cup captain told the European Tour website: "I've been lucky enough to win twice. It's definitely the favourite tournament of the year for me and many players.
"The three courses suit me down to the ground and I will be ready to give myself the best possible chance of winning. When it comes to a links golf course, I have a distinct advantage."
Harrington added: "As a two-time winner and as a constant feature at the Alfred Dunhill Links and as an Open Champion, I've always had a great welcome. There's an affinity between the Irish and the Scots."
