Fox in contention for Presidents Cup
Presidents Cup assistant captain Geoff Ogilvy believes Ryan Fox can force his way into the International team for the December event.
Australian golfer Ogilvy is one of Ernie Els' assistants for the Presidents Cup, when an International team will again take on USA, this time in Melbourne, at the end of the year.
With plenty of time to go before the team is finalised, players will hope for successful seasons in order to force their way into Els' plans and New Zealand star Fox, who is ranked 64th in the world, is a possible candidate for selection.
Fox won the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth tournament earlier this month - a competition tri-sanctioned by the European, Australasia and Asian Tours - and Ogilvy says he can play his way into the International team for Melbourne.
"Ernie (Els) and I and others involved get emails every Monday and discuss all the internationals and how they are playing," he said.
"Ryan is in that conversation with 20 or 30 guys and he moved much more into the conversation with his win in Perth.
"It would be great for Ryan to be involved in the Presidents Cup. Being played down here, it would be brilliant to have it full of Kiwis and Aussies. Ryan is on the radar for sure."
Bot Ogilvy and Fox are part of the field for this year's 100th New Zealand Open, which starts on Thursday
