Lefty closes in on win

11th February 2019, 13:16 by Nick Harris

Phil Mickelson should claim the win when the final two holes of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am finishes on Monday.

'Lefty' is sat on 18-under par, three shots ahead of third-round leader Paul Casey, but was prevented from finishing the job when play was suspended for bad light on Sunday night.

The problem came at the other end of the day after a rain delay at the start and then a two-hour break for hailstorms and, even though Mickelson was keen to finish on Sunday, Casey opted not to putt on the 16th green.

"I get exactly where Paul is coming from," Mickelson said. "It's dark and we have a chance to come out on Monday on fresh greens.

"I have pretty good vision, I'm playing well and I wanted to continue."

Meanwhile, Casey has not given up hope, "There's still a glimmer," said Casey said "I need to do something special."
